Anyone ever used Rhode Island Reds as meat

    Thinking of getting some rir for eggs and just wondered if anyone had experience with butcheirng the old hens or unwanted cockerals?

    My father-in-law butchered RIRs all his childhood for dinner. They kept 250 of them.

    Yes, and the cockerels taste fine. Takes about 20 weeks our so to grow them out, our longer if you want them meatier
