anyone here knowledgeable with Welsumer breed?

    I have two 2 month old cockerels (i think) according to the way you can tell the sex the darker one was supposed to be a hen but I here the males have a black breast when do they get that? and the lighter one looks nothing like a welsumer is there a colors besides the partridge?

    Here are ours at 20 days of age. The top picture is the cockerel with the dark red/black feathers. The bottom picture is the pullet with light brown feathers.

    Your lighter chick looks like an easter egger of some variety or another.

    so does anyone here ever have a chick that much lighter than the rest?

    If you're talking about the one in your right hand in the photo above, based on what looks from that angle like muff/beard, I'd say it's an EE (easter egger) which can be a mix of many breeds.

    Hard to know- here are our 3 welsummers at day 2 or 3. The one in the middle that is significantly lighter than the other two did turn out to be a cockerel.
