    Hi all,

I have this pretty bird, sold to me as an Arucana Hen. I'm thinking it's a boy (and not an Arucana) due to behaviour - general rushing, aggression, warbled calls and otherwise silent, fluffing itself and not looking like my other hens!

    What do you think?

    I'd say it's about 3 or 4 months old now - at a push!

As a comparison, here is a black Australorpe hen that I purchased with her:

So, thanks for having a look - really appriciative - you see, because I am residential, I'm not allowed roosters on my lot, so I will have to swap or rehome him/it.

    Thanks,
    Rescue Mama

My sister had a "mix" once! A white faced spanish "hen" - it would crow, had spurs and laid the infrequent egg.
Unfortunatly, it had an arranged accident with my partner due to it being a nasty bugger.

if you are not in the US it could be an Araucana, standards are different elsewhere...

Well, I have since relocated Bear to my sister's much bigger property and my sister assisted in obtaining Bear's replacement.

Introducing Hildegard (aka, Hildy and The Battle Maiden That Won't Stop Chasing My Dogs!)

Since her arrival, we have gotten two of these little white things - not sure if it's her or from our odd little Wyandotte bantam.

Now we are on 3 - 4 eggs a day from 6 hens - 2 which are too young, new or lazy to lay. And this is in winter. BRING ON SPRING!
