Is this breed available anywhere in the US?
    Thanks,

I have seen breeders of the spitz in both the US and Canada. Have even seen hatching eggs on eggbid and ebay. So they are out there.

Thanks. I did a search for them & nothing came up as far as hatcheries...so I thought maybe it was rare or something.
    I appreciate it.

They are rare. Have to search out breeders if you want some.

In case others are wondering, here is a picture I found of an Appenzeller Spitzhauben rooster.

I think Dipsy Doodle Doo on the BYC site raises them.....

  7. Hi! I had some, but sold them [IMG]
Mine came from Cris in IN (Hoosierchick). I think Carla in TX (AllenWranch) raises them too.

Allen Wranch , a moderator raises them. Believe they are in the hill country area.

I have Spitzhauben's. I have 4 females and one male named Henry. My girls just started laying about 5 weeks ago. They are going through the molt in the second picture of Henry and of the newer photos. Ya'll know how ugly chickens look when they're molting. Here are some pics:

    This is Henry

Thanks guys! I PM'd 2 of them, but I can't find a 'HoosierChick' to PM. Is there some other name? I really do have alot of interest in these birds. I guess my bird taste is alot like my dog taste [IMG] (For those who know nothing about me, I am comparing this bird to my Harlequin Great Dane)
