Appenzellers gender

    Hi I have two just over four week old Appenzellers one gold and one silver they maybe be too young to sex at the moment but I thought I'd ask just in case anyone has any idea.

    This is the gold one

    Sorry for taking a long time to get back with with you on your other thread! [​IMG] Anyway, for the moment, both look to be pullets. With this breed, it can be rather hard to tell. But the 2nd Spitz looks like a Gold to me rather than Silver. [​IMG] My girls are both Silvers and they are black and white.

    Gonna have to wait a few more weeks to know for sure. Spitzhaubens are one of those breeds that mature slowly. I myself have a batch of 7 week old chicks that are just now showing me who are boys.

    Second one

    It's hard to see in the pictures but the first one has a much darker wattle than the second gold one. I don't know if It makes a difference but the first one was born about ten hours before the second one?

    X2. My Missy and Cassie are about 14 weeks old, and they still don't have wattles that are nearly as pink or developed as your sweet babies. [​IMG]
