apple PUMPKIN butter w/ canned pumpkin

I have a bushel of apples & am making apple butter. I have 2 cans of pumpkin (unsweetened). I want to make apple pumpkin butter but read on a website that you cannot heat can FRESH pumpkin. What about canned? what ratio do I use with the apples? I will be cooking it in a large and small crockpot. Thanks!

So I know this is an old question, but it has my curiosity up:
Why can't you can pumpkin?
Did you try it Sparks?
My canning books have recipes for fresh pumpkin.
Sparks last posted in early August so if she made and ate it, it didn't kill her it would seem. Apple/Pumpkin butter doesn't sound very good to me.
