I have two lavender orpington chicks that we are trying to guess the gender of. Anyone want to take a guess? I know it's early!! [IMG] Chick #2 is larger than Chick #1 if that means anything.

    they both looks like hens

  3. They seem to be hens, if you want to be sure, look at the end of their back ( area before the tail starts and the back ends) for a round bump, it's an oil gland and only roosters have it.

they are very beautiful orpys. I am sure these two are pullets. Look at the dainty way they hold their heads and their combs are light colored and not so pronounced.

As far as the oil gland, I just read another post on here that said both had oil glands, hens have to waterproof their feathers as well... I'm a little confused now... :)
