We will be setting 18 eggs (hopefully we get at least 1/2 that to hatch) on March 22, so we should have chicks on 4/12, right??

This is first ever time of incubating and chick raising.

Hopefully I'm getting my eggs from PO today. Cranked up the incubator last night, bought a cheapo $3 thermometer that is .5 to 1 degree high which made me happy and recalibrating my humidors analog hygrometer. Just working out any last minute kinks this morning and probably setting them in tonight so...April 12thish.

ETA- Alrighty, got my eggs home and pointy side down about 1 PM. Set the 15 Blue Rocks at 9 PM.

I am looking to set 15 Brahma eggs in my King Suro later on this week...they should arrive on Friday from the P.O....I will probably hatch around 4/13 as well

Count me in! I need some hatch buddies. I just set two sets of eggs that I got at the swap I went to yesterday. I got 12 Dominique eggs for $1 and I got 12 bantam eggs- 6 Bantam Rhode Island Red and 6 Bantam Barred Rock eggs for $4. Anyway, I wanted to have another go with my new incubators again since the first hatchs in them did not go well. So I set them tonight and hatch day will be.....*looks at calendar*....4/11. Good luck to eveyone who is hatching and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for everyone to have great hatches!

An epiphany is one of those aha moments. So there I was worried I had hot and cold spots within the incubator and barely got humidty stable when it hit me: I'm smarter than a chicken and they seem to have fair luck with hatching eggs.

So now I'm about to grab a hot bath and all is well. I'd mounted a fan top of lid so there is a hot spot under it at 103. Coldest is my edges/far corners from there at 96 F. Basicly I've got perfect temp for most the bator and that area expanded with adding eggs last night which worked as heat sinks. Yeah, no worries, we're smarter than chickens...
