Aquarium as a quail brooder

I'm about to swap over to my spare 20 long aquarium for my brooder. I like the plastic totes, but unfortunately so do my cats. I have more faith in my aquarium's ability to hold a cat's weight on top without collapsing in.
The 60 gallon stacker totes can hold 50+ pounds, plus the handles snap the lid on nice and tight.

I like plastic totes but it is hard to see through the plastic. I can see my chicks through the glass.
You can replace part of the front with hardware cloth so it’s easier to see in. I have several different ones I used as hamster cages, and I put metal cage panels with doors into the front. These work great for quail, I have some blind quail I keep inside, and they live in a clear 50 gallon stacker bin cage.

You can find them at better prices if you shop around.

This one is a Christmas tree bin, but I’m pretty sure container store has a clear lid version available year round.

Here’s a how to:

I find fish tanks to be way too heavy for my needs. Lifting and carrying a big tank once a week is just too much for me.

I turned my 55 gallon aquarium into a quail breeder and the quails love it. I use artificial turf as the tank floor cover. You can see my aquarium quail brooder

Do you like my button quails
Classic :thumbsup
