Is there a difference? When my dad purchased these two chickens, he said they were: Aracaunas (AIR-a-CONDAS), but on this forum, I've seen the word: Americanas or some sort.

    Thanks.

There are three varieties you could be referring to:

Araucanas: Rumpless birds with or without tufts Lay blue or blue green eggs.

Ameraucanas: (NOT Americanas) Have tails, muffs and beards and either blue or slate legs. Most lay blue eggs.

Easter Eggers: Any combination of the above two varieties with other breeds/varieties. Most lay green eggs and some lay blue

Araucanas and Ameraucanas are two different breeds. If you have hatchery stock, you have Easter Eggers, not either of those.

There are many, many threads on this very subject.
