The egg on the left is from a chicken I didn't raise.
On the right is an egg from one of three araucana/americanas I raised from peeps.
They beat the RI reds in the first egg contest, so we had mealworms all around.

I know you are excited! My husband got a free rooster and paid for a hen. This was our introduction to pet chickens. I just couldn't wait for an egg, but was so thrilled a few days later when we got not only an egg but it was green. I was so thrilled. We have 6 other chickens that just started laying light brown eggs. My green eggs are like a treasure...
