Araucana? What breed?

    I know it is a rooster, and he is massive compared to my RIR and mutts. Was told it is most likely an Araucana. Any confirmation? Supposedly he was a show bird 2 years ago (I got him from a friend who had a friend who got rid of him because the family hated all the crowing).

    Very calm compared to my previous "attack rooster" RIR.

    Thanks, hopefully this spring I'll be hatching some of his offspring - the 3 that hatched last summer were killed just days after moving them outside (predator pulled them through the mesh), but they were gorgeous looking birds.

    Is the crow unusual? With the coop being at the top of a hill the sound of it carries quite a distance.

    IME, no rooster can crow as loudly as an EE rooster. I actually had to give one away once because he was too loud for even me.
