Where did you get him/her? If from a feed store it's likely and Easter Egger. Hatcheries do not have true Araucanas.
my Ameraucana chicks look like that one.
Yes, it is our local feed store… I was thinking maybe Americauna because we bought some last year that looked very similar… I really don't care what they are I am hoping they are pullets though!
"Americanas" is a made up name that hatcheries use to try to trick chick buyers into think they are getting a pure bred chicken. They are Easter a Eggers.
There is a hatchery that sells purebred Araucanas. I don't remember the name right off the top of my head.....
Meyer hatchery sells sexed blue Ameraucana pullet chicks for $20 each.
Cackle just introduced black Ameraucana straight run for $10 each.
I don't think most feed stores are ordering those.......if you buy your chick from a feed store, it's an Easter Egger. It should still lay colored eggs, it's just not a standardized color or guaranteed to lay blue eggs. Not a thing wrong with Easter eggers, they're a staple in lots of backyard flocks. Mine included
I love EE's. They all look different and their eggs are all different, too.
Chicken Scratch Poultry offers tufted, rumpless Araucanas for sale.
how much do they want?
Go to townline hatchery they have them sexed for 3.50 for females and 1.50 for males i maybe wrong with the males.
