Same question, different chickens. These are my 53 day old (about 7.5 weeks) chickens, purchased as sexed pullets. How'd the hatchery do?

This is Rose, my barred rock. He/she has always been the most aggressive, though by far the smallest. Comb is a little pinker than my more lady like chickens.

Dorothea, an EE. I think she's a girl.

Blanche, a buff orpington. Also a lady, I believe. No redness to her very small comb.

Sophia, another EE. I think this is a cockerel. Walks much more upright (with a cocked up tail... is this a sign of a cockerel or does it just seem like one), has a pinker comb than the girls, with the 3 rows mentioned on these forums with EE cockerels. My only hesitations about calling this a boy are that he/she feathered quickly like the girls.

Love to hear what you think. I'll have to get rid of any cockerels, but that's ok... might just add some already laying hens [IMG].

Slightly suspicious of the barred bird although the color is typically barred rock pullet. The second EE- last several pictures-- is a cockerel. [IMG]

I'm a little suspicious of Rose as well. Will have to wait on her.

The barred rock is a pullet (100% sure), but Sophia is a cockerel. Hmmm...maybe think about a new name for Sophia?

Quote:x2. The barred bird's color screams pullet, but that's a lotta comb!

I think Rose is most likely a pullet. All the rest except for "Sophia" are pullets as well. He's very handsome though... [IMG]
