I am looking to possibly get a black sex link chick but I have read a couple times that they can be noisy - is this true? Are they, in general, noisier than other hens? I like the idea of a sex link chicken so that I can be more assured of getting a pullet. But, I'm not thinking it's worth the risk if they are known to be very noisy. I was hoping someone may have some insight. My home is very close to my neighbors so a very noisy chicken would be tough to have. I have a buff orpington hen and a silkie hen right now and both are very quiet little hens.

Thank you!!

I don't know about black sex links, but my red sex links can be very verbal at times. When they lay, they are very verbal and can be quite loud. They like to announce to the world that they have laid an egg. Other than that or at treat time, they are not loud. These are the only chickens I have ever had, so I really have nothing to compare them to.

I have 3 black sex-link hens that at 3 yrs old still lay one beautiful jumbo brown egg each every day. this year at fair they won reserve grand champion for egg layers and first place for eggs. they also have great personalitys and theres no trouble telling them apart. in anwser to your questions black sex-links make just as much noise as any other production bird would.
