Are California pepper trees poisonous to chickens?

My Run and hen house are under a big California pepper tree, we don't have the Hens yet but will this kill them if they eat it?

I haven't heard of this tree before i read your post.

However, after a little googling, and seeing that some birds may eat the berries/fruit, and that it appears to be safe for humans, i would not be concerned.

That's just my two cents. I'm not an expert.
