I have two pekins. One is a Jumbo Pekin, and the other is just a normal pekin.Over the last month and a half ago,the drakes have been battling. It generally is when another drake is being favored by a hen. Also when the flock parts up the drakes communicate and then meet up in one place, but heads together then they fight. They bite, pull, tug, jerk each other around, and it's even worse in the pond. They slap each other with their huge wings, and i'm know it hurts. They sometimes even will try mounting the other. They hate when one another mate. They try pushing the other of.Jumbo dude who was originally the boss, makes sure the pekin doesn't mate. They literally NEVER stop. One will be the boss or a week or so,then the other wins a fight.I think the Jumbo guy (Sparta),will stay the boss from now on.He has been winning every fight so fight. When they stick their heads up,they really begin getting hype. Also got 3 new drakes who stick together and are slowly progressing in the flock. They are getting put into the pecking order and are at the top.The other drakes will fight them, but it's very rare.Any ideas on why their doing all of this,it's not even spring.
