Are fine pine chips Ok for 1 wk old chicks??

I have 1 week old chicks and I have heard not to use fine pine chips, but I was unable to find any course pine chips. Does anyone know if it is Ok to use the fine stuff now or will they still try to eat it?

I've used the coarse and the fine pine shavings and not had any problems either way.

If you are really worried about it, then put down a layer of the shavings and cover them with a layer of paper towels.

Well, I put the fine pine shavings in and I have actually seen a few of them them eating small pieces. Should I take them back out or cover them up? I would think by now they would know what is food and what isn't.
