Are Potatoes Poisonous?

I read in a book that raw potatoes can kill your chickens. Is this true?!? I often throw kitchen scraps to the chickens and now I'm worried!

Green potatoe skins are not actual potatos several people give them to their birds with no problem.

Regular non green raw potatoes are fine. The green shows the concentrated solinine in them and that is the poison. Stay away from the green ones and your good.
