5 month old chocolates
Yes! Very pretty even in their molt.
Quote:I thought so they were sold as a pair. Oh well maybe they won't mate my hens and cause trouble that way because I LOVE these two.
its hard to tell in the pic, look at the heads the boys have a larger more mascline head. but the first one looks lady like, and the lower boyish? but if they are 5 month or so the red in the face can come out overnight. the lower is a pied, if the upper gets white on the wings after they are a year thats normal, still a true chocolate.
two days after this pic, i was able to tell I had 3 boys and 4 girls
Quote:OOOH pied what's that? These are my first ducks
pied is the white on the chest. I let my 'scovy's run all over no pens, lov my chocolates
Do they really kill chickens??? Thanks for all the info also
Quote:No, who told you that, my 'scovys have been running with my chickens since i got them 3 yrs ago
also 'scovys can fly very well
Look at the chook in the background in pic #2. If your Scovy isn't about the same size as your chook or just a bit bigger, you have a girl Scovy esp. at 5mo. If both chocolates are close in size you have 2 hens. By 5 mo. your boys/drakes should be "hissing" for vocalization. Hens coo, churrip and only hiss when they are warning you off fm ducklings, nest etc.
My muscovy even thinks he's the guard of all my birds. He will not go in at night until everyone else is in. If there is any missing he always lets me know. He is so funny
