Hi! My friend needs help so I’m posting for her. She bought these 9-10 week old chickens - they’re supposed to be female olive eggers. Can you help us determine if that’s correct or if they’re a different breed or gender? I am thinking the white one is a Roo because of the comb being bigger & so red already but I’m not 100% sure. Thanks!

The black one is a female black Australorp with the green sheen on it's feathers. The tail feathers are rounded. The other is an olive egger which is just a type of Easter egger. The tail feathers also look round to me making it female. Males typically have pointed tail feathers.bMales tend to have redder combs whereas female combs are more pink/orange than red. Hope this helps

The black bird is definitely not an Australorp. Wrong comb, eye color, and has a beard and muffs. Tail feathers are not accurate to sex by in the slightest at this age. Sickle feathers emerge late in a bird's maturity and at that point sex is obvious through other signs. All look to be Olive Eggers and black is the only pullet :)
