Are these rooster saddle feathers, roo at all?

    It's hard to tell, the overall look says hen, but the comb says rooster. [​IMG] The saddle and hackle feathers don't look like they've come in though.

    I don't see roo hackles there. I can't see the tail well but the bird look very hennish to me.

    So the saddle feathers are pointed? When do those come in?

    I'm not at all familiar with cochins. My 16 weeks old EE roo has visible saddle (near the tail) feathers. EE hens often do have pointed hackles which are usually a roo characteristic in other breeds, those are visible early on. Looking again, I think I see some lighter coloring in the hackles. It would be nice if the pics had more of the bird but to me, and I'm no expert, it looks like a hen.

    I will vote Roo. Cochin boys don't really develop saddle feathers the same way as most breeds. Normally the feathers just pile up into a big ol caboose.

    That comb could probably be seen from outer space [​IMG]
