Are they done laying?

Looking for a way to determine when a hen is done laying. I have heard that you can examine the vent. Does any one have any info on this? Or should i just replace after a certain amount of time? Some of my birds are over 2 years old.

I have a 4 year old hen, I never know when she'll start or stop. She just started yesterday. Sometimes they don't have as much signs that they need to lay than the younger or beginner hens.

I'm not sure how you tell from the vent. They should keep laying at two years old. I have a five year old Quail Bantam hen that raised two batches of chicks in one year.

Generally chickens stop laying at about three or four.
