Arrghh!!! Too many chicks?!?!

I let my broody hatch 6 eggs...3 have hatched and seem fine.

But, I also order 20 baby chicks...thinking it would be better to raise them all at once.

I got 10 of the 20 today, they are in a brooder in the coop next to my broodies (2 batams) the mama's are besides themselves....they hear the peeping and are calling to them (I think) I would have put them with the broodies....but, I just didn't think they could keep that many warm.....

Should I leave it like it is?

I already have 22 chickens.....what am I doing with all these chicks?!?!?

I just went out to check them..probably wont get any sleep tonight!!! The last batch I raisedin a spare bedroom, that got messy. Coop is big enough for a covered brooder box and a heat lamp...so they are sectioned off from the big girls.....

Anyway, I just went to check to make sure they seem warm.....they were all running around under the light...I looked closer....they are catching bugs!! Sooo Sooo cute. Guess I'll have to put some grit in there...

Maybe you can never have too many chickens.....

H (hen) + E (eggs) = P (peeps) X HO (hatchery order)= SNEP (still not enough peeps) No matter what the scipher method you use it always comes up short.

I did the same thing with my math!! I lost almost my entire flock to dogs (which was only 6 birds). So I just HAD to replace them, and hatcheries only let you order 25. So I did. And then my one surviving hen went broody, and I just COULDN"T waste that opportunity, so she is sitting on 10 eggs from my local chicken guy. Seems like my chicken math is something like:

10 (originals) - 6 (hens to dog) = 1 broody (10 eggs under her) and probably 3 roos + 25 (baby chicks!) = Trying to hide them all from my husband (and the law)

Could get interesting around here!!
I am happy to hear that I am not the only one who does this type of thing!!
This chickens have me crazy or something
