Hello and welcome!! Albemarle here, 10 buff orphington hens and a roo! Great place to chat, get I go, and to ask questions!!
Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a good combination of layers and meat birds. Gold Sex Link is one of many labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links, which are produced by crossing a red gene rooster with a silver gene rooster. The resulting offspring can be sexed by color at hatching (male chicks are whitish, female chicks are reddish), and they will outlay either parent breed. It's one of the interesting quirks of hybridization. A few hatcheries like Ideal Poultry and Cackle Hatchery market their Red Sex Links under multiple labels, depending on which silver gene hen is used in the cross, but no matter which label they are marketed under, all Red Sex Links are egg laying machines, and you should get loads of eggs from those 4 girls. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
