So, I panicked. There was a chick at the barn under a hen who started hatching early this morning, around 6. I checked an hour ago and the outer shell had been broken completely, but the white membrane had only a hole in it. I freaked and helped the chick out, which I have never done before. I don't think it absorbed the yolk sack and blood vessels all the way. There wasnt a large amount potruding, not like what ive seen pictures of. Im not sure if i would have left it to its own devices if the white membrane would have broke. Once I had it out it was very tired, breathing and opening and closing its beak but tired. There was blood and a small amount of sack unabsorbed. About a centimeter. The chick is now moving around a little. It isn't fully dry, and there is still a bit of stuff poking out. The chick is very active, though it will nap very frequently. Will it make it? Is there anything extra I should be doing? I feel as though it will survive to be fully fluffed, but I want to make sure this won't cause long term complications.
