I want to get the most diverse flock I can to start out. Between the hatcheries out there is there one you think has the best assortment order? Or a hatchery who straight run orders tend to be heavier on the hens?

Straight run tends to be heavier on the roos for me - I'd take a rainbow pullet pack fromMeyer's and get a nice variety all the time

Is it more cost effective with the assortment order? Otherwise, I would choose the specific chickens you want. I chose docile, dual-purpose breeds...all hens but 4 roos.
