I'm finally getting some chickens and I wanted to know what would be the best breed or type of chicken to be raised in good ol' California. I'm just taking a wild guess but I wondeed if buff orpingtons would be good to rais in that area, which seems kind of strange since it dosen't seem to get cold there and if it was a good place for heavy breeds. Thanks for any help.

I would agree to get what you like. I am in No Ca and have the heavy breeds, buff orphingtons among them. They do well.
