At what age can you start sexing you chickens?

When I go to post does it help to know what the breed is for gender?
Or it doesnt matter?

If you know the breed, feel free to mention it. There are a few breeds where males and females are different colors.

But it is fine to post photos and ask about gender even if you do not know the breed.

I've seen some cases where the gender was clear, and the breed had everyone puzzled.

Assuming you are right about the breeds:

The Barred Rock might be sexable now (males have more white than females, at all ages.)

For the Salmon Faverolle, if it grows black breast feathers it is male, if it grows pale breast feathers it is female. There are color differences in other parts of the body too, so someone knowledgeable (not me) might be able to tell already by looking at photos of that one.

The others probably need to wait a few more weeks before they can be reasonably sexed from photos.
