I paid for all pullets, but I know it's not guaranteed. The freebie the hatchery tossed in (a Golden Campine) started crowing very early, by 4 weeks old. They rest are two each Buff Orpington, Black Autralorp, Speckled Sussex, Whiting True Blue, Whiting True Green and Gold Lace, Silver Laced and Columbian Wyandottes. A couple of the Whitings look different, kind of eagle-like in profile, but I'm not seeing, or hearing, any indications of sexing errors at 9 weeks old. Is there an age when I can pretty much figure I got what I paid for?
