I just received two emails today. One from Pat Horstman, APA Secretary and the other from Dave Anderson, APA President. I personally feel that reproducing these emails here would be most helpful, as we are a group that can only collaborate online.

We have been asked to present our Chickenstock '08 proposal to the APA directors in Lucasville, OH! I'm hoping that someone is close by and wouldn't mind presenting our ideas to the group. I'd LOVE to go, however, I'm in San Antonio, TX and I really don't think I could make the trip. I think that this may be best handled if we could send at least 2 people, so that one person doesn't have to do all the work. Here are the two emails.

    Jessica,
We are setting the agenda for the National
Meeting in Lucasville, OH on October 6-7 and Dave
Anderson was wondering if there was anyone from your
group who would like to present your proposal at our
directors meeting on Friday, Oct. 5. Lucasville is
about 50 miles directly south of Columbus OH or about
30 miles north of Portsmouth Ohio.
Our semi-annual meet in Avoca, IA on May
12-13,2008 would be about as close to the center of
the country you could get. I am talking to the club
secretary to get you any information on facilities
    that I can.
    Thanks for your interest,
    Pat Horstman
    Secty.

    Jessica,

Just talked to our secretary, Pat Horstman, and she has also been having communication with you or someone from your organization. This is a good thing and I encourage you to keep in touch. We only have so much control over where our annual and semi-annual meets are placed. Various shows must submit “bids” by a certain time and then we review the bids and select a location. As I mentioned, our semi-annual for next year is scheduled for Iowa which is a central location. I believe it is scheduled for May but Pat would know for sure. Bids for next year’s annual will be presented at this year’s annual in Lucasville , Ohio the first week in October. After that we will know the location.

If anyone is near Lucasville, OH and would like to present Chickenstock to the APA, please post your desire to do so here. I'm sure we can ALL work together to get a presentation together. You are only being asked to present the idea in person, not to do all the work. This is a group project, right?! I'm sooooo excited about this. I feel like we're finally moving in the right direction. Also, what are everyone's thoughts on doing this in May (semi-annual meet in Avoca, IA on May12-13,2008)? I think it makes sense. Please, give any thoughts.

Hey Nifty - you'd better get working on those shirts and bumper stickers! [IMG] lol

Right now I'm looking on Mapquest and it would take me 7 and a half hours or 465.73 miles to get there. That's assuming that I don't get offered a position I interviewed for. Not impossible, but is anyone in BYC that lives somewhere closer?

Im looking now.....let me see how far, THEN I have to pitch the idea to the DH....Ohhh, 3 hrs away... a little too far for me. DH would NEVER let me go that far alone...and he would not even think of going with me. Sorry.

Depending on exactly where this meeting is held, it would be at least a 5-hour drive and cost about $50 in gas. More for wherever I stay over night.

    1. Gotta talk to DH.
    2. Gotta see if DD2 is willing to let me miss a soccer game on behalf of chicken people everywhere.
    3. <sniff> Gotta give up selling homemade organic-grown catnip mice at the church farmers market 10/6.

    #1 is the biggest obstacle...

I appreciate the responses everyone. I know the feeling about the drive and gas money. I'm looking at 7 plus hours of driving time alone.

Quote:You might be looking at more than 5 hrs. I am 1 1/2 north of you and it takes me a bit more than 5 hrs to get to Dayton. Thats a long way alone.
