Attorneys in NE OK and NW AR--HELP please!!!!!

I will call the Attorney General tomorrow, and if nothing else is done, then I may go ahead and contact the local media. All I know is that people contacted in the general area of the man seem to not want to help. It just gives an odd feeling.

Thank you all for your help! I do appreciate it!

I so wish we were further north and could help you. I work for a very good attorney, but the travel would eat you up in legal expenses. I don't even know of an attorney in that area to refer you to. One thing's for sure, if the attorney you have hired is not returning your phone calls and has taken a retainer from you. You need to show up at his office and get your retainer back. There are attorneys out there who will take every case that they come across when they don't even have enough time in their week to deal with the ones they already have.

Maybe you could use www.yellowpages.com and search for attorneys in the area that you need. And contact all of them. I wish you luck on your attorney search.

Also on another note.. Some one mentioned that you should just buy your horse back from the man.. Well if all else fails.. Maybe you should get a friend of yours to buy it for you.. At least you would get him back, and you didnt actually buy him. If you do have a friend do it.. Get a friend that is good at talking prices down... Maybe even get him to involve a vet that is a friend.. And have the vet (friend) help talk the price down, saying that the animal is not worth as much as he is selling it for.. Con him like he coned you.. Like say there is some thing wrong with his legs, or some thing like that.

I wish you well on your mission to get your horse back..

If it were me, I would be so sick with worry over my horse.. But no matter how much your worrying and stressing about him. Dont forget to take care of yourself. If you get sick, you cant fight to get him back..

You could try checking the OK State Bar website (not sure if OK has one or not - I know WI does). I also think that in WI they have a referral service where they can help you find a lawyer in your area that deals with your specific case.

Good luck!

Excuse me if I just don't "get it", but how is getting someone else to buy the horse back for her a good idea? It was HER horse!! She leased it out, and the person leasing it basically stole it from her and now wants money for it. IT"S HER HORSE! She, or anyone near to her, shouldn;'t have to buy back what already is legally hers.

That's just the way I see it, but I didn't read the whole other post.

Well yes it is her horse. But she cant get it back, the law wont help. They tell her to get an attorney. By then she risks the horse being sold again.. Cause shes having a hard time finding an attorney to take the case.. The local police wont help either.. Since it was under contract, you have to take it to civil court.. Read her other thread on it..

for the OP.. I sure hope it all works out..

Your only recourse on this is civil court. File a case against each person separately and go from there. Sorry you have to deal with this. Do NOT steal the horse back. DO NOT buy the horse back. Just serve them with court papers and see how long they want to keep whistling their crooked tune.

ok...they way i see this.... and this will be my last post on this matter....98 percent of the posts in here have told you the right way of getting you horse back...yes there are steps and it will take time and MONEY...Please do not rag on you local sheriffs dept, they did the best the could but have far more important crimes to solve such as murder, rape and so forth....and yes i know i'll get flack for that remark....i spend a lot of time at a local dept (husband works for one) and there not just sitting there eating donuts....there out there WORKING there butts off......like the officer said it was a court matter...and yes that does take time too, I have delt with 3 difrent lawyers in 3 years, my favroite lawyer and the one i pay the most takes up to 3-5 days to call me back and that i understand because i'm not here only case, my idoit lawyer who is handling my adoption takes about 2 weeks to return call and the lawyer i dislike the most take about a 1 hour to call back.....IT takes time..... and IF done properly through the court you will get your horse back
