Hi! I have a precious pair of Australian Spotted ducklings that I got at 2 and 3 days old. They're both about 3 weeks old now and doing very well. Since they aren't fully feathered (hatched in an incubator) they get to swim once every evening in warm water in the bathtub for about 20 minutes. I use the hairdryer on low with cool air bursts so they don't get chilled or burned in the drying process after a quick towel dry, then some snuggles to make sure they are nice and warm. They seem to have new feathers coming in and are looking a little scruffy. I use a tiny, light, soft baby brush for them, but I think they have little dry skin flakes? No red patches or anything. Is this just normal ducky procedure?
