Thanks, they are free ranging all day and have crushed corn, oats and other grains and seeds in their pen.If it is 5 months old then it is way behind in development, which makes it difficult to sex. There is no male feathering that I can see, but the comb and wattles are very large and red on a bird that is nowhere near to being ready to lay. Honestly, I would just wait a while longer before deciding its sex.
In the meantime, make sure it gets all the food it can eat. If it doesn't start growing soon, it might be a good idea to post pictures of this bird in the medical forum to find out what is going on. Sorry I can't be more helpful but other posters might have a better grasp of what is going on here.
Sounds like you're buying scratch and not feed. Chicken feed will come on crumble or pellet form. I've never seen an actual store bought feed have corn and oats in it. Scratch is cheaper but not a proper diet.I don't make feed, I buy it. It can be diet of course. Thanks for reply
