This is a mix from my flock and the first chicken to hatch inside my incubator. Guessing they are Wyandotte Roo with Australorp hen.

Very chill, no chest bumping antics and always the first to rush in to break up a fight. Physically it looks like a cockerel but personality wise, I think pullet

Well, it may be a cockeral with those big red wattles and combs, but if it is then I'd say they're a keeper. They sound like just the cockeral a flock needs, and in fact roos will keep hens in check and break up fights between them. He may just be a submissive cockeral, although sometimes hens of certain breeds can have big red combs, so I wouldn't say either way just yet.

You almost have to be joking about gender at the stated age, that's a barnyard cross cockerel! Possibly with your stated parentage. That tiny picture... so cute, and obvious even then! :love

There's no one else there to chest bump with and he's asserting his dominance above the rest more than breaking up fights at this age. Being very chill is a sign of confidence. I keep roos.. but my hen flocks NEVER, not once needed a rooster to break up a fight.

Looks like you had a good first hatch, congrats! :highfive:

What color is your Wyandotte boy and what are your other choices of possibilities? :pop

Also, I would be thrilled to have any lineage of Australorp left as my only hen, Michelle Obama, was murdered by a raccoon July 4 and I am pretty sure this was her egg
