Auto chicken door actuator

here is an actuator that would work I ordered one but you will need a little bit of electric and fabricating ability to make it work and still be cheaper than the euro door opener a DPDT relay and a lamp timer would do the trick 70 bucks for the actuator here's the link

Methinks I need a generator first !

I've got a portcullis-type chook door, simple with a rope and pulleys, but I have no idea how easily it will ice up next Winter and become useless.
