We live in the woods in northern michigan with racoons, bears, bobcats, coyotes, etc. We are new to chickens and just built our play pen style coop/run. I was going to do an electric fence around the coop but found this instead. So far it has scared off hen turkeys on 3 occations, 1 racoon in the middle of the night and 1 owl that i happen to be watching out the window as it flew down and perched on a pine stump behind the coop. The alarm is the ryobi tech 4 motion sensing alarm. homedepot for 35 bucks. it has a rechargeable battery that last for 21 days continuous, comes with charger, is pretty loud, has a remote so you can arm and disarm from the house, water proof, huge range and when hung low enough to shoot under the hen house nothing can get within 10 feet of any side of my 4x16 coop, it has 2 modes chirp, and alarm. We set it at night when we close the coop door and turn it off in the morning when we open it up. best 35 bucks we spent!!! Thought i would share this great use for a great product.
