Thoughts on what this fella might be crossed with? Got him from someone that got him from a swap. They thought he was a Phoenix and Ayam Cemani cross. Def not a pheonix though, he has some feathering on legs! Thinking maybe bantam cochin?

He's bantam sized. Twice the size of my sebrights in the photo, quite a bit smaller than my standard sized hens. Has black skin, legs, and comb, so Ayam seems right. Interestingly he has some patchy feathering on his legs (black patches in photo are feathers, but he came with scaly leg mites so hard to see sorry! (getting better fast with some TLC!)).

The photo of him from the seller had a single rooster tail feather tail sticking up. I assumed molting, but he has none now and hasn't grown any in over the last three weeks I've had him, so unclear yet. Comb is pretty smooth and unusual, maybe like a single missing the spikes.

@OneHappyRooster 4 toes! and yes! Was out last week treating his legs at night and he's looking SO much better now! A few spots left, but his legs are actually looking black again now :) Of course as soon as they were almost healed and I could get a new pic we had four days of rain and now his feet are half mud colored :hmm Ah well, I will get pics when its nice again.

@Overo Mare No he wasn't! Poor guy. His wings had been trimmed back far and pretty messily, and like you said with the comb, that's not how it started... He is wary but fairly friendly, certainly not aggressive. After a few days of giving scratch grains at my feet he is willing to sit right by me and eat.

@DuckYouMan I am actually hoping he will give me a few daughters like that! I always wanted some dark combs in my flock.
