My TSC chicks are 17 weeks old now and look like grown women (hens). They even walk and talk differently now.

One of my Easter Egger babies has just started laying eggs.

    Here’s her baby picture:

And here she is all grown up (today):

And she blessed me with my very first egg:

Yep, my $16. worth of chicks have cost us as much as your egg.

What a pretty hen she grew up to be! [IMG]

That $2000.00 egg is certainly the truth. Just proof that us back yard chicken keepers ain't in it for the profit! [IMG]

What breed did you pick up at TSC? the TSC in my area didnt sell anything that looked like her when she was a chick! The only thing close to her were Bantams!
    (she's gorgeous btw!!)

I actually went to two different TSC's to get the variety I wanted.
The one in the photo is an Easter Egger.

I bought Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds, Australorps, and Easter Eggers.

I couldn't get any bantams because by the time my local TSC's got bantams, my chicks were already 3 weeks old and too big.

I did go to several local breeders and swaps to pick up some Silkies, d'Uccles, Polish and Guineas.

Quote:TSC around here only sold Black and Red Sex-Links, White Leghorn and the Bantams. My first batch of 8 Bantams I got the end of march, all died but 1, and my MIL had 14 Red Sex-links she got the end february, So we put one of her girls in with my last little Mille Fleur until TSC got another batch of Bantams in 2 weeks later. by the time I got my replacement chicks and took the RSL out, my little Mille Fleur was like "what the heck are these thing?! LET ME OUTTA HERE!!" an wanted back with the big chick! [IMG]
