Any guesses on gender at this point?
What? About 2 weeks of age?
Right now, looking pullet. Marans roo's tend to show comb early, but not always.
My BCM roo had a noticably big comb at 2 weeks of age, which began to pinken at 3 weeks of age, and then become larger and redder at 4 weeks of age (photo below with his sisters).
Sometimes Marans can develop more slowly, but the consensus of the Marans community seems to be the roo's often show early.
Hopefully that is the case with your little Marans and it is indicating pullet.

You can see the obvious roo at the far right, sisters on left at 4 1/2 weeks
He looked like this at 3 weeks...his comb is even bigger today at 5 1/2 weeks while theirs has remained pretty much the same.
Better shot of just him
Thanks yet again! You are so nice to take the time to offer such clear and detailed answers for a newbie. I really really appreciate it.
