Baby chick bathing in WATER??

I'd probably try to stop that behavior. Babies of that size can get chilled really easily and being wet makes this a lot more likely. I like going with a waterer like this:

But with gravel (like gravel driveway size) in the drinking area to prevent them from falling in.

And getting a dish filled with dirt from outside would give them a proper place to dustbathe.

Itā€™s Arizona and was really hot out you think that might be the reason?

That is hysterical! I've had my entire flock of grown chickens wading through a flooded pasture but that was because all the bugs and such were climbing the stalks and stems to get out of the water, and it made for easy snacking. I've never seen a chick take a bath like that!

I don't see your chick bathing in that water willingly. I see a crowded brooder, and chick just trying to find a personal spot. Am glad the water is shallow so chicks do not drown. Chick feathers will soak up water, and chick will get chilly.šŸ„¶ Try to dry them if they enter water. For the health and good sake of the chicks:love.. Maybe increase brooder size:idunno

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:highfive:

I was wondering.

Here's how to add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
