When I grabbed the chick out of the incubator he had a lot of crusty yolk and blood all dried up. What do I wash it with?

Probably egg gunk. Or "boogers" as some say. I usually pull them and hand dry them but don't wash them for a day or so...if at all. If she seems otherwise boisterous, she's probably fine. Biggest concern is trouble drying off in the humidity of the incubator.

I had a baby chick stuck in its shell. After trying to hatch for over 48 hours I assisted it, but the shell was fused to its entire back, covered in yolk. It was very weak, surprisingly survived the night and more active the next day. I placed it in the brooder, it drank but did not eat. Unfortunately the combination of the heat lamp and egg yolk caused the chick (silkie) to become very hardened. I cleaned it as best as I could. Still not eating. Outlook doesn’t seem good for him/her.
