He probably isn't deformed but, was stuck in a bad position in the egg. He may straighten out on his own but, just in case do post on the ER thread and you might also put "baby chick leg problems," in the search box. Some items should pop up.

G’Day from down under farmgirl93 [IMG] Welcome!

Aaaw, I am sorry to hear about your little one and hope that Diva is right and (s)he just has a ‘cramp-type’ thing going on.

I also hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]

Howdy! Splay-legged chicks can be corrected with proper bandage support. However you must remember to not restrict blood supply and remember how quickly those little chicks grow. Vet Wrap is my favorite tape for this type of support. Be sure to stretch it before applying it. You can cut it to the size you need and is very lightweight. Good luck!

The chick didn't make it through the night even after we splinted bad leg to good. Mother nature's work at hand. So far rest of chicks healthy and happy! Thank you for all of the advice and links! So happy I joined this site. I love my chickens and can't wait to add these babies to the rest of the flock!
