So I've had my first hen hatched clutch of chicks and I don't know what to do about vaccinations and do I feed the whole flock medicated chick food? Or should I keep the momma and chicks apart for 8 weeks?

Some people say that there are special bacteria in the hens poop that the chicks (if they eat it) will be healthy. Now I don't know if that's true, but every time I did a hen hatch, all were fast and healthy growers.

I give my chicks Purina Flock Raiser crumbles. Medicated feed slows down their growth rate because it takes away some vitamins of the chicks body and the chick will grow slower. Only use medicated feed if necessary.

I wouldn't give any of them medicated feed if possible. And I have never done vaccinations. Hens do a good job raising healthy chicks.
