Hello! One of my broody hens just had another batch of chicks and so far three have hatched! Ik one of them(the darker one) is her actual baby, and the others so far are white leghorns, but I’m not really sure who the dad is for them. I believe all the white leghorns so far are the brahmas babies but for the other one it could be lavender Orpington or the Brahma. I’m gonna attach pictures of both of the dads for breed identity. I'm gonna keep posting updated pics of the chicks for gender as well, because I've been told they can be sexed at different ages. The pic of the lavender dad is while I was getting rid of him because he hates my guts so it’s not the best, but you can still see him.

Baby chick #3: lil helper I also believe this one is the brahmas baby, but not for sure we will see when they get older! All of the leghorn babies look the same, with the small dark patches in places like the Brahma chicks did

I’m gonna attach pictures of both of the dads and then the babies wings to find out the genders.

Wing sexing only works in rare cases. If the mother was slow feathering, and the father was fast feathering, then the babies come out opposite of that (slow feathering sons, fast feathering daughters.) Any other combination of parents, and it doesn't work. And unless you raised all the parents from young chicks, and know for sure who grew their feathers at what speed, you should assume it doesn't work. (Fast vs. slow feathering can be seen in the wings from the first day, but the difference is more obvious a few weeks later: the fast chicks have a full set of feathers while the slow ones still look almost naked.)

I’m not really sure who the dad is for them... it could be lavender Orpington or the Brahma.

Any chick with fuzzy feet has at least one parent with feathered feet. So if the mothers have clean legs, any chick with fuzzy feet must have the Brahma father. Clean-legged chicks would have the Orpington father.

Comb type can also help sort them out. The Brahma should pass his pea comb to his chicks, while the chicks with an Orpington father will have single combs if their mother has a single comb. (If the mother has a rose or pea comb, it will be harder to figure out what comb genes the chicks got from their father.)

Thank you for the wing sexing info, I was never told that! As for the fuzzy feet aspect, ik the lavender and the leghorn didn't have any and the brahma does. The Maran has feathered feet as well. The baby that is hers has feathered feet, so I'm still not sure abt that one, but the other two that have hatched so far do not have feathered feet, so would that make the Lavender their dad?
