I have a 5 week old Buff Orpington chick who is about 5 weeks old now. She has been acting sick for the past week. She is SO much smaller than the rest, and she is really, really thin. But the weird thing is, she's been eating quite a bit, but she is only eating soft chicken feed. I mixed it with water because she is having difficulty swallowing. I was giving her chick grit, but I thought that maybe it could have gotten stuck or something. But she is not gaining any weight at all, in fact she is losing weight! I'm really sad for her. I would hate to euthanize her, and I would like to help her in any way I can. Her current symptoms are:
Difficulty swallowing
Mouth open
Huddled up
Eyes closed at times
Secluding herself from the rest of the chicks
Extreme weight loss
Lethargic
She has always been a little smaller when I first got her. But, the other chicks are double the size now! I appreciate any advice! Thank you.
