baby chick panic!

Got 6 baby chicks from the feed store yesterday and found one of them was not at all active. I found pasty butt on this one and have started softening it with warm water. I noticed a red bubble about the size of a pea just below the pasty butt. I am wondering if this could be a hernia from the blockage? Has anyone seen this, can anyone help?

Welcome to BYC. It's possible that it is a prolapsed vent, but I couldn't see the picture well. Put some honey or Preparation H (for shrinkage) on it and try to push it back inside with a little lubricant. The other possibility would be an umbilicus (navel) that hasn't dried up.
