baby chick with a hurt leg or foot

Discussion in 'Raising Baby Chicks' started by Dustieburk, Mar 25, 2015.

  1. OK, so I have new baby chicks and one wont use one of its legs. I don't think that there is any way that it could have broken its leg. I am thinking that it's feet are hurt from the shavings that i have in their cage. I am using fine flake shavings the feed store told me to use those so that the chicks don't get cut. I have raised chicks before and this has never happened. The only thing else I have in their cage is a feed and water. The chick will just hop around one leg and it shakes because it hurts so bad. There are only seven chicks in the cage with it and it is the smallest of them all.[IMG]

  2. Forgot to say it being hurt is not slowing it down from eating or drinking so that is a good thing.
  3. Baby chick still alive started walking. She is not growing at all has some fethers but no more are coming in. Her having a hurt leg has made her stop growing.
