Got a old baby crib? Need a brooder? With just a few additions to the crib you could have a nice brooder. I have not done this as I just thought how nice it would be to have a brooder that is at just the right height to raise the chicks and after seeing a old crib on CL. That being said, it would be easy to add wire cloth to the outside and since most of the cribs come with a solid floor it would be easy to add bedding. Put in your feeder, water, and heat lamp and it could be done cheaply. Not to mention if you only have say 8 chicks (that's the number I usually raise at one time) you can leave them in it until its time to move them outdoors. If anyone tries this I would love to see pics of the finished crib/brooder.
