My two degus, Momo and Mimi, had 5 babies and they are coming along nicely. Degus are related to the Guinea Pig and the Chinchilla. Unlike the chinchilla and guinea pig they can climb and have little claws. Momo loves sitting on my shoulder or climbing down my shirt. They also love to have their chin scratched. They made a actual nest for the babies and they don't really mind if I come near them. They both rush to the door to see me, looking to get a treat, haha. I tried to get some pictures but I didn't have much luck. Here's what I've snapped so far. The babies are around 3 days old but degu babies are born highly developed. They have their eyes open, have fur, and even run around and clean themselves.

I had mine together for almost 5 months before Mimi got pregnant. I'm separating them into 2 cages once the babies are grown. Males in one cage, female in the other.

Aww! [IMG] They are adorable! That's funny, I have never even heard of Degus before. They seem like pretty neat critters. Congratulations on the new babies! [IMG]
